Which One Is Yours?

I can recall the first time a phone call was made from a handheld mobile phone.  It was back in 1973, and that Motorola phone was roughly the size of a brick. Motorola is still going strong and has a new offering for 2013. Let¿s take a look at the best in mobile phones for 2013.
Samsung Galaxy S4
The Samsung features a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED screen. It has a microSD slot so you can add up to 64GB of extra storage if required.

The operating system is Android Jelly Bean version 4.2.2, accessed via Samsung¿s TouchWiz interface and the Galaxy S4 has a 13-megapixel camera.
Sony Xperia Z
The Xperia Z also runs Android Jelly Bean, version 4.1 at release, although an update to 4.2 became available late April.

The Xperia also has a 5-inch display and a microSD slot. At 1.5 GHz, its Qualcomm quad-core processor is slightly slower than the Galaxy¿s 1.9 GHz, but the difference is not really noticeable.
HTC One
The HTC One has an aluminium case, although the screen is slightly smaller than  the Samsung and Sony at 4.7 inches.

One drawback here is the lack of a removable battery, so there¿s no chance of swapping a flat battery for a fully charged one. There¿s also no microSD slot, although the base model comes with a 32 GB storage capacity.
Nokia Lumia 920
The Nokia Lumia 920 uses the Windows Phone operating system from Microsoft, which, although currently lacking in apps compared with Android, makes up for this with the possible future integration with Windows 8.

The screen is 4.5-inch and the Lumia has an 8.7-megapixel camera and a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, leaving it slightly behind the Samsung, HTC and Sony in terms of raw power.
Google Nexus 4
Another smartphone running Android Jelly Bean, the Nexus 4 has a 4.7-inch screen, a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor and an 8-megapixel camera.

The plastic case is sealed, as with the HTC, so there¿s no removable battery or microSD slot available. With only 8 GB or 16 GB options available, the latter may be a drawback. However, the Nexus 4 does offer wireless battery charging.
Motorola Razr HD
The Motorola is certainly less cumbersome than that 1973 version and the 2013 model has a 4.7-inch screen installed in an impressive Kevlar case.

The Razr is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core chip and runs the Android Jelly Bean version 4.1.2. The camera is 8-megapixel but it doesn¿t really compete with the similarly sized version in the Apple iPhone.
So if you¿re thinking of upgrading to a new smartphone this year, there are plenty of options, at least far more than in 1973.
